What a wonderful concept – transforming a basic wardrobe staple into something elegant yet simple. Less is more. And that’s what designer Yannick Henriette of JAC Henri wallets does with his company’s first offering, an extra thin wallet. Originally for men, it has now been taken over by women who see it as a major asset when wearing skinny jeans or for a small evening bag. The design combines high quality materials, often fashion colors (think sunshine yellow, peridot, fuschia, royal blue and others) in a size that won’t protrude from a pants pocket or bother you sitting down and can fit into a shirt or blouse pocket. How does he do it? By changing the pocket orientation, and eliminating the pocket for cash (it simply is folded in the middle and held secure by the elastic band), he created this totally new design.
The wallet comes in various hues of high-quality Italian leathers as well as exotic skins such as shark, lizard, ostrich and alligator (love the blue lizard model pictured here). Add to that a vast assortment of interior suede linings and stitch colors and this allows for many combinations, including contrast stitching, which have become their signature. They can also be monogrammed.
Prices range from $90 for leather and $250 for lizard to $320 for crocodile. Wallets can be purchased online and at Junior & Hatter’s newly opened men’s boutique in Wynwood.
