D-Koncept French boutique

French cool is the stock in trade of one of the new boutiques in Miami,  D-Koncept, 2085 N.W. 2nd Avenue. Owned by 30 year old Deborah Kerchache, a Paris fashion school grad who has worked as a costume designer , it’s about trendy European streetwear and unique accessories for men and women. And, as the name suggests, it also has select artworks inspired by her stint as a singer, along with gift items ranging from French tea and candles to books and whimsical pillows. Everything is refreshingly different, worth a trip next time you’re in Wynwood.

In the clothes department find everything from flirty sundresses and lounging wear to quirky T’s and jackets for women to shorts, high fashion sweatshirts and long pants for men. French brands include American Retro, Eleven Paris and Paul & Joe. My favorite were the accessories like a trio of colored stone flower jewelry from Reine Rosalie (necklace, $503) and the coolest bracelet with small holes where you can “sew” a message of your choice ($285) made by PP from Longwy; high tops sneakers by American College ($175 and up) including one model with images of South Beach (real conversation piece), another with images of the New York subway, and one of a kind Spitfire sunglasses that look much more expensive than their $59 to $69 price tag. Handbag lovers won’t be disappointed with the clutches and leather shoulder bags with plexiglass geometric patterns in day glo colors.

The art may (or may not) be your cup of tea, but you have to enjoy the creativity. A guitar is made of used tickets from a Bruce Springsteen concert ($11,000) , another, a skull is from Rolling Stones tickets.

And speaking of tea, there are select varieties from famed French purveyor Mariages Freres including music tea boxes playing the Marriage of Figaro or a song worthy of Kama Sutra. Fun too, is the concept behind the “pop up” candles. Every 50th one has a diamond. No, unfortunately, mine wasn’t the lucky one. Next time.
