Looking for a new way to say “that’s amore!” this year? We’ve got it! Check out our list of the top ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day Miami 2018 and Fort Lauderdale too —from picnics on the beach to a star-studded concert and more, there’s something for couples, singles and even families. And if you’ll be celebrating at home, check out the two recipes for Valentine themed cocktails.
Feast in you very own cabana… under the stars.
Celebrate Valentine’s Day the “Florida” way: on the beach! At B Ocean Resort, in Fort Lauderdale, you could be one of eight lucky couples to enjoy a romantic dinner, in a Salty Siren Beachfront Cabana, under the stars. Priced at $500 per couple, this deal will include one private beachfront cabana, a four-course, prix-fixe dinner, one bottle of champagne, a private butler, and for the crème de la crème on your stunning South Florida night, a live violinist. B Ocean Resort is located at 1140 Seabreeze Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Hotel Valet is available.
Indulge in a gourmet picnic on the beach.
Treat your special someone to a romantic day “a la ol’ Paree” this Valentine’s Day, as you celebrate your love with a picnic feast on the sand. At Atlantic Hotel & Spa, a four-diamond hotel on beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach, this “Gourmet Picnic Dinner on the Beach” is open to the public for just $120 per couple! Available any day during Valentine’s Day week, between February 11th and February 18th, lovers can take in the beauty of our South Florida shores while indulging in fare from the hotel restaurant, Coastal. The picnic will include: grilled jumbo shrimp with cocktail sauce, a Brie wheel and crackers, bocconcini and tomato salad, gorgonzola-crusted beef tenderloin on ciabatta, smoked salmon herb cream cheese on pumpernickel, truffle potato salad, chocolate-dipped strawberries and gourmet cookies. To wash it all down, share a bottle of San Pellegrino and a bottle of Pinot Grigio or Chianti; and to set the mood, your basket will include a tablecloth blanket, utensils, glasses and a lantern for dining under the stars. Atlantic Hotel & Spa is located at 601 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304. All reservations must be made before 2 p.m., and a refundable $50 basket deposit is required at the time of reservation. Hotel valet is available.
Get a taste of the Mediterranean at the new Boulud Sud Miami.
We were all sad when db Bistro Moderne Miami, one of our favorite French restaurants in Miami, closed its doors in September 2017—but lucky for us, the mastermind chef behind it, Daniel Boulud, didn’t keep us waiting long for another one of his fabulous concepts! Coming to us from New York’s Upper West Side, this Mediterranean stunner promises a feast for the ages; one influenced by the flavors of Côte d’Azur Spain, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon and Turkey. For just $85 per person, treat your S.O. to a four-course Valentine’s Day dinner by Executive Chef Clark Bowen, with plates like burratina with black truffle, saffron acquarello risotto, catalan filet mignon, chicken tagine and more. For an extra-sweet experience, end your meal on a happy note with Pastry Chef Saeko Nemoto’s signature grapefruit givré dessert, and opt for the $50-per-person wine pairing by Boulud Sud Sommelier (and our favorite wine guru) Haunah Klein. Boulud Sud is located inside the JW Marriott Marquis, at 255 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami, FL 33131. Hotel valet is available for $10 with restaurant validation.
Enjoy “Romance in the Glades.”
Looking for a unique Valentine’s Day celebration? On Saturday, February 10th, head to Zoo Miami for “Romance in the Glades” and enjoy a Valentine’s Day weekend in the wild. At Zoo Miami’s “Florida: Mission Everglades” exhibit, guests who are 21+ can enjoy a night filled with special animal encounters, romantic boat rides, live jazz performances by Frost School of Music at University of Miami, zookeeper chats, a welcome cocktail, two additional drink tickets, and passed appetizers, small plates and desserts, like: duck confit, Oyster Casino broiled with sweet-pepper butter and bacon, coq au vin, assorted chocolate and toffee crunch desserts, and more. Zoo Miami is located at 12400 SW 152 Street. Tickets for this event are priced at $185 per couple and $97 per single ticket. Zoo Miami Members will receive $10 off couple tickets and $5 off single tickets. A full bar upgrade is available for $25. Tickets can be purchased here, and the last day to purchase tickets is February 5th, 2018. Parking is free.
Go to a “Moonlight & Music” Valentine’s Day Concert at Deering Estate.
On Wednesday, February 14th, grab your loved one and head down south to the Charles Deering Estate, where you both can sway to the vocal stylings of two Miami-based musicians: Yoli Mayor (of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Season 12!) and Alejandro Elizondo, a soulful singer-songwriter who debuted his first solo album, Lord Willing, earlier this year. To really make it a cozy affair, guests are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and small picnic baskets—but if you forget to pack the latter, refreshments will be available for purchase from Ms Cheezious, Serendip-a-tea, Chill-N Ice Cream, CrêpeMaker and Joanna’s Marketplace. This event will start at 8 p.m., and gates will open for all General Admission ticket holders at 7 p.m. Charles Deering Estate is located at 16701 S.W. 72nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33157. Tickets are priced at just $30 per person for General Admission, or $40 per person for an upgraded ticket with 5 p.m. entry. All tickets can be purchased online (for an additional fee), or by calling the Deering Estate Ticket Office, any day between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at 305-235-1668, ext. 233. Parking is free.
Have it all your way at Monkitail.
Monkitail changed the Japanese food game in South Florida when it opened at The Diplomat Beach Resort in April 2017. Helmed by celebrity chef and restaurateur Michael Schulson, of TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off and Philadelphia’s Harp & Crown, Monkitail puts a modern spin on the classic ”izakaya,” introducing a menu of sushi, shareable small plates, specialty cocktails and saké, all served alongside Atlantic Ocean views. On Valentine’s Day, couples can get a taste of everything on the menu… and we mean that literally. Priced at just $65 per person, the Chef’s Tasting Menu lets diners choose ten menu items, one from each section of the menu (including sushi and sashimi, meat, fish, and more!), plus dessert. Monkitail is located inside the The Diplomat Beach Resort, at 3555 S. Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL 33019. Four-hour complimentary valet is available.
