Where to Have Sunday Funday in Miami
By Jennifer Agress and Yours Truly
Here in sunny South Florida, we love a good party – and we love them day or night. Case in point? Our fabulous Sunday Funday parties. If you’ve never had a Sunday Funday before (or at least haven’t done a pool party Miami style), checkout our list of sexy spots below. From yachts and DJs, to good food, endless champagne and poolside dancing sometimes until 2 a.m., they’re sure to make your last day of the weekend epic enough to power you through the week that follows.
The Deck at Island Gardens: At The Deck at Island Gardens, Sundays promise something fun and fabulous all day (and night) long. This outdoor restaurant and lounge – which sits inside Island Gardens Deep Harbour, North America’s first superyacht marina – is perched on the edge of Biscayne Bay and boasts the Holy Trinity of views: Brickell Avenue, Downtown Miami and Miami Beach. For the ultimate Sunday Funday, head there at 1 p.m. for brunch, and at 5 p.m., stay for a swanky Sunset party. Picture this: DJs, Veuve Clicquot, Mediterranean cuisine, sexy locals, celebrities, yachts, a luxe, speakeasy-like scene and a party befitting famous Ibiza. The Deck at Island Gardens is located at 888 MacArthur Causeway.
HYDE Beach at SLS South Beach: If you don’t know where to go this Sunday, keep in mind that HYDE Beach is always a good idea. Brought to the South Beach shores straight from Vegas, HYDE Beach at the SLS South Beach seems like a pool party (and it is!), but it’s also where you go to see and be seen. Before you go, don’t forget to wear your best designer bikinis and stilettos. Trust me: you’ll feel left out without them. HYDE Beach is poolside at the SLS South Beach, which is located at 1701 Collins Avenue.
Mondrian South Beach: Ready to relax? Ahhh… at the Mondrian, that’s exactly what you’ll do. Boasting some of the best sunset views in Miami, the pool deck is cloaked in rich red, Moroccan rugs, white and flowy canopies, a “grassy” deck and dazzling-white pool beds. On Sundays, there’s free yoga in the morning at 10 a.m., and by 1 p.m., the Mondrian Pool Club party will be just getting started. Expect Reggae music, sunsets and a poolside soiree until 8 p.m. – then next Sunday, come back and do it all again. The Mondrian Pool Club runs from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondrian South Beach is located at 1100 West Avenue.
watr at the 1 Rooftop: From Vegas to Polynesia, Sundays at watr are all about sea-inspired foods, beautiful views and even more beautiful people. With its canopy of stringed lights, surrounding greenery, wave-like décor and elaborate sushi and poke menu, this sexy rooftop is Miami’s own Polynesian paradise. And just beyond the restaurant, there’s a cabana-lined rooftop pool for hotel guests and residents only – and you better believe they’re some of the most stylish pool-goers in town. Starting at 2 p.m., a DJ will be on hand to get the party going, but it really won’t heat up the roof until after 10… when the dancing starts! watr is open on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It sits on the rooftop of the 1 Hotel South Beach, at 2341 Collins Avenue. The 1 Rooftop is an adults-only area for guests who are 21+.
The Standard Spa Miami Beach: Ready for a Sunday Funday, spa-style? At the adults-only The Standard, Miami Beach, that’s exactly what you’ll get. With your day pass, start by grabbing a chair at the pool, and when you want to move, wander through the property’s idyllic gardens, take an oceanfront yoga class, workout at the gym, take a mud bath, or release those toxins at the co-ed hammam steam room. Finish your day as you always should at The Standard, watching the sunset, and follow it up with a oceanfront Mediterranean feast at Lido Bayside Grill. The Standard Spa, Miami Beach is located at 40 Island Avenue.
And if the outdoor scene isn’t your thing, Bagatelle offers an indoor brunch that’s serious party time and fun. Check out an earlier post.
