Miami sailing trips

We all gaze at beautiful Biscayne Bay…from our homes or offices or cars. But how
many have actually sailed the bay? Here’s a great way to do it even if you
don’t own a yacht. Just like Gilligan, you can take “a four hour tour” but with
a much happier ending filled with great memories of  shimmering blue waters and impressive vistas.
Enter: Captain Bill, a charming man who has led an interesting life and pilots
his 40 foot Beneteau sailboat with expert skill and joie d’vivre. Definitely
book ahead on their website www.letsgosailingtoday.com, email the Captain at
billgladd@gmail.com, or telephone 305-677-9616.  The cruise leaves from Pier One at Dinner Key Marina near Miami City Hall in Coconut Grove.  If you sail on a weekend, parking is free. If you select a weekday, it’s also free but you do need a permit which can be easily secured at the Marina Office located at Pier Five. When you board the boat, you can bring elaborate food and drink or simply enjoy the complimentary champagne, wine, beer, soft drinks, water, and snacks.

To some degree, your itinerary may be dictated by prevailing winds. But Captain Bill aims to please and is very flexible. We wanted to see Stiltsville up close and personal and he skillfully accommodated our request. The boat holds six passengers comfortably for half or full day sails so line up your friends or family and enjoy  a special treat Miami-style. There are two heads on board and adequate sun awnings. A four hour/half day charter costs $500 plus tax.

Mention miamicurated.com and you’ll receive a $50 discount coupon on the charter.  If you’re really adventuresome,a couple can book the Dream Catcher for a romantic overnight trip or extended vacation to the Bahamas or the Keys. Do it right and schedule your charter to coincide with the full moon. Sounds heavenly.
