Key Biscayne House Tour: “Lifestyles in Paradise”

The season of home and garden tours is in full swing with notable ones in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach coming up. But no need to go far afield. Good news!  A leading Miami house tour, “Homes of Key Biscayne: Lifestyles in Paradise” is back again this year on February 7.

Shuttles will take guests to six homes, from the clever remodels and the quaint to grand estates  with a chance to spend time in each at one’s leisure and learn about the history and architecture and see some serious art collections according to event chair, Maria del Carmen Mayoral. And the last stop will be at the Village’s Beach Park with tables set up for enjoying small bites from leading area restaurants. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $35 if tickets are bought in advance and $45 at the door. Meeting point is the Key Biscayne Presbyterian Church (160 Harbor Drive), where guests check in.  Complimentary parking will also be available. New this year guests can choose to tour by bike.

The Key Biscayne Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor of the house tour event. For tickets or more information go to the site of the Key Biscayne Chamber of Commerce, or call 305-3615207.

And while you’re on the Key you may want to check out,Tinky’s, a marvelous gift shop with everything from pieces for entertaining and home design to handbags and costume jewelry. Other tips: some of the best, freshest produce around can be found at the Winn Dixie here  (and their creme cake is terrific for afternoon tea)– a surprise, a welcome one to me, and Piononos for a dessert that will be a show stopper. Called a Pavlova, it’s made of meringue, dulce de leche, chantilly cream and fresh fruit.

  1. sadly, it is on the same day as the coral gales kitchen tour….sigh….touring gables homes, including kitchens, is hard to beat….if you send me the contact for the key Biscayne people I will adivise them so that next year they will not run their tour which conflicts with any other…..

  2. I am sorry, but we cannot accommodate wheelchairs on the tour. My Mom was in a wheelchair before she passed away, and I apologize for not having this tour wheelchair accessible, but it is beyond our capability. Most of the homes in Key Biscayne that have been built in the past 20 years have steps going into the home because they had to be elevated- then, steps in the home. Once again, I wish we could, but we are not the owners of the homes on the tour and cannot change the reality of the situation.

    Best Regards,

    Kathye
