The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair  is back this weekend, from January 12 to 15.  This year there are 60 exhibitors from diverse cities and countries ranging from Berlin and London to The Hague, Tokyo and Venezuela representing Post War artists. It’s from the organizers who spearhead Art Miami and numerous other art fairs. Have a favorite artist? You can check to see if works of that artist will be represented on the Fair’s website (bravo, a welcome feature). Also on tap are other special exhibits to easily keep an art lover happy.
Highlights include:

An exhibit I saw and enjoyed with friends at the Society of Four Arts — an exhibit entitled “When Modern Meets Contemporary” is one to put on your list. With works by 52 of the 20th century’s most influential artists from the Roy R. Neuberger collection, the exhibition illuminates the artistic transformations that took place in the U.S. during the first half of the century, a selection of modern masters including Alexander Calder, Stuart Davis, Willem de Kooning, Marsden Hartley, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, and numerous others. The exhibit is on until January 29. And by the way,it also has a lovely garden worth seeing.

The historic Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens will serve as a satellite venue and exclusive cultural partner for the fair, presenting a special exhibit of artist Sophie Ryder’s monumental and small-scale works, which will extend through April 2017. Courtesy shuttle service will be provided between the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and the Fair during fair hours. Complimentary admission for PBM+C VIP Cardholders Jan 12-15. www.ansg.org

PBM+C VIP Preview Benefactor, the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is a non-profit zoological organization located at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach. The zoo houses more than 700 animals within 23-acres of lush tropical habitat. PBM+C  will present a special exhibition by Wildlife Photographer, Carlton Ward, to benefit the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society. www.palmbeachzoo.org

Francis Picabia Loan Exhibition Curated by Jeffrey Deitch – The fair will present an exhibition featuring premiere examples of works by Francis Picabia. The works are not for sale, and are on loan from Jeff & Mei Sze Greene, collectors, philanthropists and Palm Beach residents. Selections from the Greenes’ Picabia collection are currently on exhibit at MOMA through mid-March 2017.

Take a break from art viewing with lunch at Cafe Boulud in the handsome courtyard garden. They offer a prix fixe three course lunch for $35 that’s always delicious (trust Daniel Boulud) and it’s tough to top the setting on a beautiful day.

Tickets for PBM+C 2017 are $25 for a day or $55 for a multi-day pass (you can also order online). Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
