Rings aren’t usually my thing – compared with earrings as you know. But I’m a convert thanks to Sergio Andres Mendoza, the creator of Pharaoun. They make a statement without being too much, and are reasonably priced especially considering the workmanship. Same with the cufflinks, earrings, lapel pins and charms.
Don’t we all love inexpensive indulgences! And here’s one that’s an experience as well – Lib Lab. I just happened to discover it on a trip to New York, walking around SoHo, and loved it. The concept is to create your own lipstick, from the color and flavor (yes, flavor), to the finish, case and even name that's engraved on the case. You can do it online too with a group of friends and make it into a party.
Even if you aren't usually a particular fan of Colombian fashion, you might very well change your mind after seeing the fashions at St. Dom, what I call the "Temple" of designers for men and women in Bogota, Colombia. I had been following St.Dom on instagram along with other fashion in Colombia. Then, on a recent business trip to Bogota, I made a detour to their three story shop, a companion to a sister shop in Cartagena, and was blown away by the quality, design, and style of their 140 brands of clothing for men and women, accessories,  items of home decor and even chocolate sculptures. If you want to do a total remake of your wardrobe it's almost worth a trip there in itself.
Alert for holiday gifting! Once described as the Paris of South America, Buenos Aires was a global fashion capital during the early 20th century. Now after a success with luxury vineyard real estate, fine wines and luxury boutique hotels, the Gaucho Group Holdings team turned to fine leather clothing and accessories for men and women, and items for the home in its brand,  Gaucho - Buenos Aires. The brand recently opened a shop in the Miami Design District that’s well worth a visit and has some unique items for holiday gifting.
In September in Miami we need to mix things up, with new excitement and FUN. And for sure, different and entertaining is the Miami celebration on September 30. This event commemorates major Indian holidays beginning with Navratri and ending with Diwali, the Indian equivalent of Christmas. Billed as the night of Music, Masti and Masala, it features Indian entertainment, festive traditional Indian food, shopping, dancing, and more. And no big price tag here.  Plus, want to learn how to dance Bollywood style before the event? Read on until the end for how.
Thanks to Latin American designers from Colombia and Brazil to Venezuela, Peru and Argentina, Miami has a unique and wonderful fashion scene in the US. That’s in everything from clothing and jewelry to handbags, mostly for women, but also for men. And now there’s a welcome new entry on the scene, Azulu from Colombia, that has fashion and accessories for women and men. It’s resort wear that works for day, the beach, and a night out, in fabrics perfect for South Florida. Azulu Miami recently opened two shops, one in Brickell City Centre and the other in Aventura, riding on their success in twenty countries worldwide.
Gas Bijoux fashion jewelry or as they call it “haute fantasie” is like a cult. Women and men buy an item and they get hooked, going on to add to their collection over many years. I’m a new cult member, having made the difficult decision of which bracelet(s), earrings or rings to buy.  I got a man’s bracelet, too, for a client who has a bracelet collection. Though select pieces are sold at high end department stores, now there’s a dedicated shop to buy them in Miami – in  Coconut Grove.
Chevre Miami could be a gourmet shop plucked from a village in France or Italy. Its cheese and charcuterie selections are seldom found in Miami, along with gourmet products from leading purveyors in the US and Europe. And then there are the original, unique offerings and experiences to come created by its owner Mario Naar, AKA “The Cheese Don". His pedigree includes a namesake shop and restaurant in Panama and formerly, a founder of the successful  Salvaje restaurants which he started in Panama.
The beat keeps going with all kinds of different things to do in Miami April 2022. Here are my picks for an afternoon outing, design, Earth Day happenings for all ages, music, art, polo on the beach, and more.
Today and tomorrow only there's a  popup, The Poppy Caravan Popup Miami, you won't want to miss!Showcased are  a wide array of luxury fashions, accessories, home decor and gift items. Plus  you can combine it with lunch or drinks at the prime people watching lunch spot, Bellini in the Mr. C Hotel, or grab a light bite in The Bazaar Project next door and make it an afternoon!  The Popup reminds me of the trunk shows I used to love at the Pierre Hotel in New York that were spearheaded by Melissa Biggs Bradley of Indagare. As you know, I don't usually devote an entire blogpost to a popup, but I checked out the designers and decided it looks like it's well worth its own post.
