Over the years The Setai’s highly professional service and well attired staff have never faltered. And we know that maintaining consistent service in Miami is anything but easy. The design of their spacious, comfortable restaurant Jaya, with large well spaced tables and handsome open kitchen is still as appealing as ever. And then there’s the cuisine under the talented Executive Chef Mathias Gervais, showcasing all matter of Asian dishes – from Indian, overseen by their Indian Executive Sous Chef, Vijay Veena, to Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. If you haven’t been there, or have been wanting to return, Miami Spice is the time. Read Full Post & Comments »

Sushi Garage: Miami Spice

For Miami Spice, I thought I’d try a newcomer to the scene. Being the sister restaurant to South Beach’s Juvia was enough of a pedigree for me to want to give Sushi Garage a try, and what better time than Miami Spice.  More casual than its Lincoln Road relative, what the two have in common is very attractive design that makes use of natural elements – fresh plants as décor, light natural woods, simple lines, with an airy garden feel.  It’s also very much a neighborhood place, attracting all ages and lots of families for a midweek dinner.  With its long bar that stretches almost the length of the restaurant and the comfortable vibe, it’s a place I could see myself going to for a dinner alone as well. And stay tuned at the end for a quick look at my Spice menu picks. Read Full Post & Comments »

They see it as a way to showcase their restaurant to new patrons. Smart.   The atmosphere of Bourbon Steak is also a favorite – it’s casually elegant, “buzzy” and yet not loud, and the lighting is just perfect.  But let’s get to the main event – the food.
