Looking for flats -- classic ballerinas in many neutral shades and fashion forward styles with a European sensibility -- along with sneakers and espadrilles? One of my favorite shoe stores in Miami is Menina Step. Their shoes are solid quality, made in Spain and a steal. When I go shoe shopping , times that I do buy it's seldom more than one pair. Seeing their new collection I bought four pair and the total cost? Under $300.
Have you noticed how your food bill has increased? Ditto the price of wine (couldn’t believe how wine prices at Costco have increased! See my tip below on that). So it’s welcome news that Miami restaurants are not only still offering Miami Spice 2020, but also, that it’s four months this year, starting now through September. Here are the details and list of the restaurants that have already kicked off their offerings along with links.
I’m in love with Amare restaurant, a new Italian entrant South of Fifth. It was several years in the making, its owners wanting to get it just right, as in a labor of love. But as we know, especially in Miami it takes more than passion – it takes serious experience and talent.  The restaurant is a collaboration between restaurateur Gino Iovino, owner of award-winning restaurant Girasole in Atlantic City, along with Franco Ricatti and Chef Cosimo Cassano of Bacco Osteria, the Michelin-starred concept in Puglia, Italy. Cassano oversees the kitchen. Their specialty is Southern Italian cuisine with a refined and elegant touch . Plus, it is offering Miami Spice for lunch and dinner and includes a number of the top dishes I like.
It’s that time again, spa lovers! Miami Spa Month 2019 when spa treatments and services typically costing $200+ are reduced to set prices as low as $99 along with value added features ranging from a hair and scalp treatment and beach chair to water features, discounts on other beauty services, and tai chi and yoga classes.  We’ve narrowed down all the offerings and curated a list of 11 spas just for you, including one in Hollywood. Happy Spa Month this August (and one hotel offers September as well)! And if you're reading this outside of spa month, these are  great spa picks anytime of year.
A terrific new addition to outlet stores in Miami features contemporary classic accessories for office, bathroom, kitchen and entertaining. It’s RLB Outlet and it’s the retail shop of the adjacent hotel and restaurant supplier, Real.life.basic. Items are design minded and quality ,and come in a variety of materials including wood, porcelain, stainless steel, acrylic, bamboo and glass.
Dinner can be hard to plan, and when you live in a place with as many great restaurants as Miami, sometimes it’s easier to just go out. The one problem with that? The cost. Lucky for us here in South Florida, even Miami’s hottest restaurants have some pretty sweet dinner deals—every night of the work week—that foodies can’t resist. The next time you’re craving a good deal, check out the Miami dinner deals listed below. They’ve got you covered for dinner, Monday through Friday. And for a top deal with a fling once a month, here's the best dinner special in town at Milos which I wrote about earlier. Happy dining!
New Year and you’re not feeling flush, with money that is. Here’s a list of my favorite cheap eats in town. As I write in “About my blog”, quality doesn’t have to be pricey. These places have very good food, and you can eat lunch and/or dinner for around $20 a person exclusive of alcohol. None is a national restaurant chain, and all have seats to eat in. Love to hear your suggestions, too, for your favorite spots.
It’s arguably the best dinner deal in The Magic City. No surprise then that the restaurant was packed on a Monday night in the usually slow tourism period right after New Year. Word is getting out about the incredible six course dinner with wine pairing for $79 per person (plus tax and tip) at Estiatorio by Milos. As is always the case with Milos, everything was top quality and even though the restaurant was crowded, we and our friends felt as if the waiter only had eyes for us. Service was excellent. Plus, there was no din, so conversation was easy. And now why it was so good….
