Need a drink? How about 12? I was thrilled to discover Shaker & Spoon Cocktail Club, a monthly cocktail subscription box that delivers a craft cocktail experience to your home with beautifully curated ingredients, recipes and techniques for mixing the perfect drink every time. Think Blue Apron for cocktails! Great for gifts.

You no longer have to run around to look for a lot of ingredients to make superb cocktails. With this subscription, you’ll receive a box every month with 3 unique recipes from world-class bartenders and everything you need to make them—12 drinks total—4 from each recipe. All you do is buy your own liquor according to your budget or preferred brand.

Use a little more imagination than just pouring a glass of wine for guests! Up your mixology game, and create the perfect cocktail to impress your date or host a cool cocktail party. Or just relax and watch Netflix while sipping a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned you’ve created yourself.

Russell Davis—former co-star on Spike TV’s Bar Rescue—utilizes his extensive knowledge in bartending and spirits to oversee the monthly box and recipes curated from the world’s best bartenders.

I decided to try April’s Rum Wild Box.  The box arrived and I was delighted to find ingredients that it would have taken me awhile to gather:

1 bottle chocolate bitters

1 bottle ‘elemakule Tiki bitters

1 can Coco Lopez cream of coconut

1 jar Griottines cocktail cherries in Kirsch Liqueur

1 bottle California Republic Organic Wild Poppy Blood Orange Chili Juice

1 bottle naranja agria grapefruit juice with zest

1 small bottle of apple cider vinegar

2 cans Dole pineapple juice

2 small jars Bonne Maman raspberry preserves

4 limes

4 umbrella cocktail picks

The box also included cards with a short history of rum, plus a glossary of barware and glassware. Three recipe cards detailed how to shake up a “Hemingway En Nica,” from Marshall Altier and Jonathan Borin, the minds behind New York City’s Chicha; “T.G.I.S (Thank God It’s Spring)” from Cocktail Guru™ and bartender Jonathan Pogash; and the “Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow” from Dan Watson at Cleveland’s Porco Lounge and Tiki Room.

Where there’s rum, it’s safe to say that fun is not far behind—the recipes and ingredients in April’s Rum Wild Box delivered big time, while inspiring my guest’s idyllic thoughts of surf, sand, and sun. The island-accented creations put a tropical spin on my spring cocktail party—not a stretch if you live on South Beach! I couldn’t help but think of my friends up north, where it was still snowing. With this cocktail box, they’d be feeling no more than a seashell’s throw to the beach.

Past boxes have included March’s “Kiss Me, I’m Whiskey,” February’s “Death by Gin, and January’s “Rye Oh My!” box. For more info, click here.

Price is $50 for a month-to-month subscription; prepaid subscriptions are $135 for 3-months; $250 for 6-months, and $480 for 12-months. Skip a month or cancel any time. Great for wedding and house-warming gifts!

P.S. From Karen….

I tried the gin box which featured cocktail recipes including a Taurus Tea Gimlet with ingredients like cherry bark vanilla bitters and chai syrup; Above a Persimmon with  persimmon cordial; Death by Gin with “the works”; and The Valet including bergamot tea elixir and Filthy onion brine. All of the ingredients were there, even coasters! The cocktails were delicious. It’s a terrific gift.
