Caudalie Spa, Unique Wine Treatments

A French spa featuring Vinotherapie, using the  antioxidant powers of grape and grapevine, caught my attention in the late 90’s. A visit to the spa, Les Sources de Caudalie, in Bordeaux,  has been on my “to do” list ever since. Though a trip to Bordeaux isn’t the same as having the treatments in Miami, now we have our chance at the Caudalie Boutique Spa at Aventura Mall with a 650 square foot boutique spa . Also, this month Co-founder Mathilde Thomas debuts a book, “The French Beauty Solution: Time-Tested Secrets to Look and Feel Beautiful Inside and Out “(Gotham Hardcover, July 2015) which features an easy 3-day grape cleanse that European aristocrats have been using to detox for hundreds of years.

Here you’ll find Caudalie’s signature Beauty Barrel Bar, a wine-vessel inspired island specifically created for quick, on-the-go services such as the complimentary Instant Beauty Pick Me-Up mini facial and hand massage, and the Fresh Crushed Cabernet Scrub, a fully customizable gommage scrub using natural ingredients such as exfoliating grapeseed and nourishing honey ($29). State-of-the-art serums, moisturizers, cleansers, toners, exfoliators and the line’s cult favorite, the Beauty Elixir, are also offered at the bar.

Services focus on facial and body treatments ranging from The Premier Cru Facial for anti-aging care and the Vinoperfect Radiance Facial, for illuminating and correcting uneven skin tone to The Polyphenol C 15 Anti-ox Facial to energize and detox the skin . Facials include extractions of black and whiteheads. The Urban Spa also offers three body treatments including a Divine Body Treatment to relax the skin, a Fleur de Vigne Body Treatment to regain energy, and the new Cocoon Wrap to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. The boutique provides waxing and extraction services. Body and facial treatments are 30 to 50 minutes and range from $65 to $125. Note that there’s one treatment room so if you go with a friend, you’ll need to stagger your treatments.

As a member of the “1% for the Planet,” Caudalie commits to giving back one percent of its global turnover to associations for the protection of the environment.

In her new book Mathilde covers everything from how to use natural ingredients like oil and honey to wash your face, what foods to eat for healthier hair, skin, and nails, and how to determine your skin type. In addition to providing anecdotes from her own life and routines, the book includes interviews with doctors and dermatologists to explain why certain things work and others don’t and what are the most important things to consider when figuring out which products to use. Mathilde also explores the amazing properties of grapes, the foundation of most Caudalie products.

  1. grapes are an ancient beauty treatment, especially if crushed and imbibed…
what is the difference between grapes and an elephant?
if you jump on it and you don’t get wine, its an elephant.
