Hair and Makeup Styling at Home

MC1

Heaven knows mobile technology can be a blessing or a curse (when it doesn’t work).  One of its newest blessings are new companies offering beauty and wellness services on demand in your home, office or hotel suite.  A few weeks ago I wrote about Soothe, an online site and app that offers massage in your place of choice (love it, already used it three times). Now, newly arrived in Miami is Vensette that offers hair styling and makeup at home, office or hotel at the touch of your smartphone or laptop.

After successful launches in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Vensette has come to Miami with their hair and makeup pros that promise to get you out the door with your new coif and look in less than 45 minutes.  Their uniform clad artists have worked wonders for celebs, socialites, professional women and fashion brands ranging from Vogue, Lanvin and Gucci to Michael Kors. And I was impressed that New York magazine named it the Best at Home Makeup Service in its Best of New York feature which is one of my “go to” guides to what to check out in the Big A.

Here’s how it works: you sign up on your laptop or mobile app, choose your service, and enter your credit card. Request the service 24/7 with as little as three hours notice. An artist will come to the place of your choosing and show you a LookBook where you can choose one of their  seven hair styles (e.g. classic, edgy, Tribeca, siren) or eight makeup looks ( e.g.Grace Kelly, sun kissed, dew, CEO, cat). Or, use the book as a point of departure to describe what you want and any modifications. Use the artist’s products or your own.

Who are the artists? Former hedge funder and owner Lauren Remington Platt said they’re taken from a talent pool including celeb artists, major cosmetic firms and the like, screened and tested, with only 10% of applicants making the grade.
Security checks are also done.

A hair styling is $100; makeup $150 or both, $200. There’s also a special with concierge service for $300. Gratuity is included. And men are welcome as well.  Sounds like a great gift idea or holiday treat.

Beauty for Real Lip Gloss
Beauty for Real Lip Gloss

And on the subject of beauty, I was recently introduced to a new line called Beauty for Real. They have their own products including lip cream, lip enhancer, mascara, nail polish, cheek tint and luminizer (a two in one) and lip gloss. The lip gloss was obviously designed by a savvy woman as it hits all of the hot buttons. It’s creamy, has marine collagen that helps plump the lips, comes in 16 colors and — the best yet, has a built in mirror and flash night. It’s a new total fave. And, as a friend who saw it said, you can also use it to read menus. The products are sold in spas, beauty salons, online and on Amazon. Don’t you love things that do double duty?
