Miami has a lot of top notch steakhouses which you’ve read about here so the competition is stiff. What makes the best steak? Prime beef. Dry aging and how long. The right searing. Getting the exact level of doneness desired. For me the gold standard is Peter Luger in Brooklyn. They hit all the marks. So it’s no surprise that the “disciple” of the famed New York steakhouse, Wolfgang Zwiener, a waiter and headwaiter there for 40 years, would have restaurants to rival that of the master.
You’ve read about Miami’s hot tickets picked by some of the city’s leading hotel concierges. Now it’s my turn and I have one that I predict will become one of the hottest tickets in town. Deservedly so. And it’s already happening.

It’s flirty. It’s “girly”. It’s fun. And soon to be more fun with themed party rooms. It’s Sparkle and Shine Darling, the new shop at 1665 Alton Road that’s meant to be a “haven” for women of all ages according to owner Adrienne Bosh (yes, the wife of basketball uber star Chris Bosh).
Want to have a delicious Thanksgiving at home without cooking? You don¹t need a private chef thanks to Whole Foods. In fact, your guests will think you cooked (assuming you¹re a good cook). I sampled select items from their holiday offerings and can vouch for them. Plus, other take home dinner packages and desserts.
One of my best discoveries on a recent trip to Mumbai was this sterling silver tea service from luxe shop Ravissant ). Stunning.
This year's choices for the best desserts in Miami don't go to the usual players with a few exceptions. They include artisanal bakery items made by one person bakers, a new chocolatier on the scene, and several restaurant offerings from South Beach to Sunny Isles. There's one New York entry which I couldn't resist including. Sweet tooths get ready!
From the annual Color Run, to a bevy of show-stopping performances, the first-ever plant-based food and wine festival and more, here are our picks of the city’s best upcoming events for November.
