Here's the second of five hot restaurant tickets in Miami from in-the-know concierges at some of the top hotels in town. As wonderful as Miami is, any local (and this Bloomberg list) will tell you that it’s certainly not an inexpensive city. So if you have friends or family coming to town who need a hotel that's not too pricey where should they go? We’ve put together a list of solid, affordable hotels in Miami. This is the first of a three part series focusing on different areas of the city. In this, Part 1, we focus on the Brickell Avenue area and Downtown Miami. Note: All hotels earned a rating of 3.5 or higher on TripAdvisor, and were researched by the Miami Curated team.
By: Jennifer Agress With Miami Spice in full swing, the South Florida restaurant scene is jumping. But to make sure the beat doesn't let up, the Magic City has seven exciting new watering holes to come in 2015 -- adding everything from modern Asian and Uruguayan fare, to an American neighborhood joint and an authentic New England seafood house. Best yet, they're spread out over the city, from the Grove and downtown to Miami Beach and Brickell.
Each week for five weeks we'll be running a feature on one of the hot restaurant tickets in Miami. My friend and writing colleague Irene Moore interviewed the in-the-know concierges of some of the top hotels in town to get their picks and more -- how to get a table, best time to go, best night, best table and the crowd. Here's the first tip from John Evans, W Insider, the W South Beach.
The vast variety of choices today is a blessing and a curse. If you’re like me you try to put off making one of those purchases of necessity – from a new appliance to replace the old, a tech gadget or a chef's knife - because of the anticipated research that needs to be done for the best choice. Serious help to the rescue with a new discovery. A website that bills themselves as being “for people who don’t want to take a lot of time figuring out what to buy so you can get on with your life”. Sound good?
Everyone it seems has a favorite burger. So when I went in search of the best burgers in Miami I had to sift through a lot of candidates. My sources were respected fellow food writers, online forums, and then of course there were the outings to try the finalists. Here are my top three in the city:

This is my third post on Miami Spice and you may be wondering how I decide which restaurants to feature out of the 194 that are participating in the program. My criteria are that the restaurants be top quality to begin with and have an attractive ambiance. Then they put their best foot forward for Spice (several notable places were eliminated because of lackluster menus) , looking at it as an opportunity to showcase their food to new diners who hopefully become loyalists. I also feature restaurants that are upscale, as this is a chance to sample some of the best food in town for less than diners would usually pay.Tomorrow and Wednesday look for lists of my other picks for Spice with the menus.
